PlayStation's Latest Free Games Are A Much-Needed Improvement

PlayStation's Latest Free Games Are A Much-Needed Improvement

We love to see it

The PlayStation Plus free games for December 2021 have leaked, marking the seventh (or maybe even eighth) month in a row that the lineup of titles for Plus subscribers has been revealed ahead of any official PlayStation announcement.

The leak once again comes from French outlet Dealabs, which has been bang-on the money with PS Plus news for the last few months in a row. According to them, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners will be able to download LEGO DC Supervillains, Mortal Shell, and Godfall.

Take a look at Godfall in action below!

Is this the best month PS Plus subscribers have ever seen? Absolutely not. But it's still a clear step up from the some of the more widely panned monthly lineups we've had to endure this year.

In fact, a quick glance around various PlayStation subreddits tells me that a good portion of subscribers are pleasantly surprised by these December games - a far cry from the backlash and criticism that previous months faced. It's a Christmas miracle!

"Two games I was interested in but wouldn't pay for and a game my kids will enjoy. Perfect month for me imo," wrote one user on the PlayStation Plus subreddit.

"Honestly yeah. This is peak PS Plus for me," agreed another. "Stuff that makes me go 'Huh, interesting. I’ll play that', and a game for my kids."

"A LEGO game is always welcome, never heard of Mortal Shell and I guess I will finally check out Godfall," another added. "Way better than the previous months IMO."

There's plenty of positive reception to the games over on the PlayStation 5 subreddit too, although Godfall seems to be most divisive title by far. Many of those that played the PS5 launch title are less than thrilled about its inclusion, while others see it as the perfect PS Plus game. Doubtless folk will be much kinder to it if they haven't forked out £60 to play it.

The PlayStation Plus games for December 2021 will be officially announced next week, but given Dealabs has gotten it right the last three months in a row, I feel confident in suggesting these are definitely the freebies we're getting.
