PlayStation Plus December 2021 Free Game Potentially Uncovered

PlayStation Plus December 2021 Free Game Potentially Uncovered

The first PlayStation Plus game for December 2021?

It’s been a rough ride for PlayStation Plus subscribers, of late. The incredibly uneven run of free games over the last months have ranged from simply disappointing to downright “insulting” according to some users.

Many of those who still have a PlayStation 4 as their primary console also feel they’re being consistently fobbed off with lesser games, while PlayStation 5 owners get priority - and more exciting titles. It’s all purely subjective, of course, but the consensus is definitely negative. Will December’s freebies turn things around and end 2021 on a high?

Unfortunately, we still don’t know for sure what December’s free games are - although given Sony’s track record recently they should leak any day now. But ahead of any leaks/official reveals, a solid observation from Game Rant may well have led us to the free PS5 game for next month.

New PlayStation Plus games are typically released to subscribers on the first Tuesday of each month, which would mean December’s freebies arrive on December 7. This also happens to be the planned release date of Heavenly Bodies, a sci-fi sim coming to PS4, PS5, and PC in which players navigate various scenarios in deep space. It looks pretty awesome, too.

“Wrangle the hands and arms of a 1970s space cosmonaut and push, pull and twist your way through an increasingly precarious range of physically-simulated stellar scenarios, where without gravity, nothing is still, nothing is secure, and nothing is simple,” reads the game’s official description.

While the release dates matching up could easily be a coincidence, Sony has more recently developed a habit of pushing smaller indie games via PlayStation Plus as soon as they’re released. Fall Guys, Oddworld: Abe’s Exodus, and Hell Let Loose are all prime examples.

We’ll have to wait a few weeks for the official announcement before we know for sure, but as of right now? Heavenly Bodies is absolutely a strong contender. Watch this space.
