The PlayStation Plus free games for May 2022 have appeared online, surprising precisely nobody who pays an ounce of attention to these things.

French outlet Dealabs has consistently and accurately leaked the PlayStation Plus monthly free games days before Sony's official announcement for coming up to a year now. At this point, it's honestly almost as good as a confirmation.

So, what free games can PlayStation Plus users actually expect in May 2022? Well... let's just say that you can really tell May is the last month before the overhauled PlayStation Plus launches for subscribers, because it is... not going to be for everyone.

According to the leak, subscribers will be able to get their hands on football sim FIFA 22 (PS4/PS5), survival game Tribes Of Midgard (PS4/PS5), and rougelike Curse Of The Dead Gods (PS4/PS5). There have been better months, I'm sure we can all agree.

As always, take this with a small pinch of salt until Sony officially announces the PS Plus lineup later this week. But again, I'm just going to point out that Dealabs never gets it wrong, so do with that what you will.

The good news is that June should see a brand-new era for PlayStation Plus - one where subscribers aren't constantly complaining about feeling short-changed.

This overhauled service is made up of three tiers, each with their own unique benefits and free games. Essential (£7), is PlayStation Plus as we know it. Extra (£11) is the classic service with PlayStation Now's library of games baked in. Premium (£13.49) gets you all that, plus access to a number of currently undisclosed games from the original PlayStation and PlayStation 2 era.

The new service is officially being rolled out in June, at which point there's no doubt in my mind that the monthly free games offered via the Essential tier will continue to cause arguments and upset.
