PlayStation Plus Essential Lineup For August Reportedly Leaks

Well, just look at that. Yet another month has flown by and it’s that time again: PlayStation Plus time. As I’m sure you’re all aware by now, PlayStation Plus has successfully rolled out its overhauled system and fans seem to be enjoying the games on offer.

There’s always room for new titles though and regardless of whether you’re signed up to the Essential, Extra, or Premium tiers, all PS Plus subscribers continue to receive three monthly games - and August’s line up has now leaked online.

According to prominent leaker Dealabs, the three titles on offer this month are Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, Yakuza: Like A Dragon, and Little Nightmares which I’ll admit, is a nice little line-up.

Vicarious Visions’ skateboarding title Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 launched back in 2020 and was well received. In our own review, Mark said the game “is about as good a remaster as we’ve ever had.” Of course, if you played the 1999 and 2000 originals, then this game is also pure nostalgia-fuel and we all need a little bit of that from time to time, right? A new-gen download is available for PS5 users, in addition to the original PS4 release.

Next up on the roster, we’ve got RPG Yakuza: Like A Dragon. Similarly, this game was also released back in 2020 and is the work of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. Like A Dragon introduces a new protagonist into the Yakuza franchise, Ichiban Kasuga, so it is a great starting point for new fans. In our review, James said that the game has “universal appeal” as well as “retro callbacks” for seasoned fans. Once again, Yakuza: Like A Dragon is available as both a PS4 and PS5 download.

Last up, we have Tarsier Studios smash-hit Little Nightmares. Released back in 2017, Little Nightmares received a worthy sequel just last year. The game centres around a young girl called Six who has to escape the monster-ridden Maw. The game is certainly creepy, but in an almost mesmerising way. Little Nightmares doesn’t yet have a new-gen version so is available as a PS4 download.

As with any rumour, we need to wait for Sony to confirm the line-up but Dealabs has been accurately leaking the line-up since September 2021, so we’re likely looking at the real deal.
