PlayStation Plus May lineup of free games slammed as 'brutal' month

PlayStation Plus May lineup of free games slammed as 'brutal' month

Very rough

PlayStation Plus subscribers are in for a brutal month as a whole heap of games are set to leave the service after a shockingly short stay.

We all know that the PlayStation Plus subscription service from Sony is an excellent way to get your hands on some award-winning games without the extra cost. With new games added each month, including day-one releases, it has become something of a much-needed necessity for PlayStation users.

Check out our Final Fantasy VII review below!

However, with the arrival of new games comes the removal of others and this May, PlayStation Plus will be losing a whopping 25 games from its library. This means that players will only have a few more weeks left to complete some pretty big open-world RPGs.

As well as some much-loved indie titles such as Abzû, The Artful Escape and I Am Dead, some AAA games such as Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII Remastered are also set for the chop. As you can expect, being such lengthy titles, players are now under a time limit to complete them before they lose access.

There are also six other entries in the Final Fantasy series set for removal as well as fighting game Absolver, the shoot 'em up title My Friend Pedro and the action-adventure title Jøtun. As you can see, there are a bunch of exciting titles leaving the service.

As you can imagine, many subscribers were disappointed with the news and took to r/PlayStationPlus to share their frustrations. One said: “Thanks for adding this. Absolutely brutal month for me with games I've had on my list to play! I really wish they'd give more than a month's notice as last month was a really quiet one for me.”

Another agreed, saying: “The Final Fantasy games are disappearing?... I don’t have enough time in the world to finish such long grindy games AND get the plat”.

Hopefully some of these titles will return to PlayStation Plus in the future but for now, there will have to be a lot of speedrunning going on this May.
