The PlayStation 5 has just made its debut in the UK and many fans have been eagerly anticipating its arrival. Alas, it looks like some unfortunate folks might have to wait a little longer. According to ResetEra user Kyonashi, when opening up his Amazon order instead of being greeted by a lovely new PS5, they were instead delivered a box of cat food.
It looks as though Kyonashi is not the only one to have been left wanting by the popular online retail store. Another user on Twitter shared that they had received a foot massager in place of the PS5 that they were expecting.
It doesn't stop there though as journalist Bex April May also shared on Twitter that when filming the unboxing of their Amazon package (which they thought was the next-gen console), they ended up just unboxing an air fryer instead. So needless to say, there's been quite a mix up at Amazon UK HQ in delivering the PS5's to a couple of fans.
Happy #PS5 day everyone. Tried to document our one's unveiling, but Amazon have tricked us with an unsolicited air fryer instead (after giving delivery password). Anyone else had this problem today? pic.twitter.com/99IUSzSJUU

Quite a few of the people that have been involved with this mixup have also pointed out that these Amazon packages weren't properly sealed with the usual Amazon tape. Instead these boxes seemed to have been sealed with just a generic unbranded tape. On top of that, when tracking the order, folks would be notified that either they were 'missed' or that the delivery person couldn't locate their address. But shortly after a delivery would show up at their doors, said delivery would not be a PS5.
While some have been getting a variety of random objects in place of their PS5, a few Amazon shoppers have been even more unlucky by just receiving nothing at all. In response to Bex April May's tweet, one user shared that they received a notification that their package was "handed to resident" despite them receiving nothing at all.
This has happened to me as well accept My #PS5 has been stolen, I have nothing. shows as "handed to resident" but nothing is here. Been in all day and watched the Amazon delivery driver deliver a small parcel next door. #AmazonPS5Scam absolutely furious. Amazon say wait 48hrs

There's been no official update from Amazon on these delivery issues, but hopefully everything will be resolved for all these folks so that they can soon be gaming on the next-gen console.
