'PT' Hacker Finds Cut Bathroom Scene That's Most Terrifying Of All

'PT' Hacker Finds Cut Bathroom Scene That's Most Terrifying Of All

Too hot for PT.

PT, the playable teaser for Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro's ultimately-doomed Silent Hills project has gone on to capture the imaginations of gamers everywhere in a way that I don't think anyone could ever have predicted. The brief but incredibly well made demo from 2014 for a game we'll never actually see has been remade, dissected, and discussed in great detail over the years, more than earning the right to be considered a game in and of itself.

Kojima's ambitious horror experience was one that delighted in terrifying you with fleeting shadows and creatures that lurked just out of sight, with moments so fleeting that you're not even sure if you actually saw something horrible lurking behind the door, or if you simply imagined it. With that in mind, it takes a much more courageous soul than I to properly dive into PT's files in search of those out-of reach horrors and unused secrets, but that's exactly what hacker and YouTuber Lance McDonald has been doing for the past month or so.

Earlier in the month, Lance managed to gain control of PTs camera and discovered that Lisa, the decomposing ghostly presence who stalks you through the game's dimly-lit corridors, is actually always behind you. It was the kind of revelation that makes you want to cry in the shower and sleep with the lights on for the next month or so, but Lance wasn't done mining the game for secrets. I wish he'd stopped there, because his most recent finding is perhaps the most unsettling of all.

In a recently-uploaded video, which you can watch below, Lance details some of the things he's discovered since playing around with PT's code. A lot of it is pretty damn creepy, including the moments he manages to show us that the "fleeting" moments Lisa appears actually aren't all that fleeting - she's technically always stood in certain locations but simply isn't visible.

Worst of all though, is Lance's discovery of a scene that never actually made it into PT, perhaps, he speculates, because it was too horrifying. A scene that was too much for PT. Let that sink in. If you've played through the game before, you'll be all-too familiar with the bathroom - it's where the creepy talking sink fetus likes to hang out, after all. But there was something much worse waiting in there, lurking out of sight.

Normally, if you head into the bathroom during a playthrough, you'll either see the bathtub filled with water or empty. Nothing particularly creepy about that. Unfortunately, Lance discovered that at some point, upon fulfilling some unknown condition, you were supposed to find Lisa's headless corpse floating in the tub, and it's about as gruesome as you'd expect. You can see it for yourself below, but it's not for the faint of heart.

It's not entirely clear why this was cut, but I'm personally thanking my lucky stars that I didn't stumble across this grisly sight during one of my drunken 1am playthroughs of PT back in the day, because it might genuinely have killed me. I'm assuming, as Lance suggests, that Kojima might have decided the headless corpse of a woman in the bath was maybe crossing a line that didn't need crossing, so... I'm not actually sure how I feel about Lance bringing it to our attention after all these years.
