'PT' Hacker Finds Their Way Onto The Streets Of Silent Hill

'PT' Hacker Finds Their Way Onto The Streets Of Silent Hill

"It's been a very long time in the making."

PT truly is the gift that keeps on giving. The horrible, disgusting, terrifying gift. Modder and YouTuber Lance McDonald is back once again to dredge up untold secrets from Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro's doomed horror collaboration, only this time he's gone further than ever before.

Free from the constraints of the endless looping hallway that the demo asks us to escape from, McDonald is able to explore the actual town of Silent Hill. Or at least, as much as Kojima and his team were able to build for the brief cutscene at the end of PT that revealed Silent Hills.

As it turns out, the big reveal featuring Norman Reedus was rendered in real-time, which means McDonald can take us on a proper tour of the fog-drenched location. What might surprise you is just how much work went into the town you only sort of glimpse at the end of the demo.

Take a look at the video below.

"So there we have it," McDonald says in the video description. "The entirety of Silent Hill as it exists in PT. Probably more unseen content in this one map than there's actually 'seen' content in the normal game. But seriously, that hack to make the player float took months to make work so I hope you did find something interesting about this one, it's been a very long time in the making. Not exactly cut content is it? But just falls into the category of 'unseen'."

I really have to hand it to McDonald. His hard work and dedication over the past few months has yielded some fascinating discoveries for one of the most mysterious video game projects of the last few years. We've seen previously cut scenes, discovered things about Lisa that we'd rather have not known, and can now float around Silent Hills.

Be sure to watch the video above and check out the rest of his work on YouTube, because he really does put the work in. Over on Twitter, McDonald revealed that he had to deal with multiple jump scares from Lisa while tinkering with the game and attempting to work out how to get out of bounds without triggering a terrifying event. My nerves would have been fully shot.

We might never see a finished version of Silent Hills, but as long as people like McDonald are willing to scare themselves sh*tless for our benefit, we can enjoy the fruits of their labour and discover all kinds of new things about PT and the horror game that never was.
