I find myself tipping my hat to PlayStation Plus once again. Around this time last year, Sony's online gaming subscription service kind of left me cold with its selection of games and benefits. Fast forward 12 months, and the service is in fantastic shape.

Personally, I've been seriously happy with PlayStation Plus since the launch of the PlayStation 5. The monthly free games have been on point, offering a good mix of AAA hits like Control: Ultimate Edition and Final Fantasy VII Remake while also finding time for smaller games like Hollow Knight and Maquette. On top of that, the PS5 has the PlayStation Plus Collection, which includes free access to a library of great PlayStation 4 games. Not too shabby Sony, not too shabby at all.

If you're not already subscribed to PlayStation Plus and you're thinking about it, now might just be the time to do it. To be very clear, I have no horse in this race and couldn't give a toss whether you do or don't, but a new promotion that's running from now through to March 23 has sweetened the pot considerably. If you subscribe for 12 months now, you'll get yourself £12.50 in PlayStation Store credit to spend on a game or a DLC pack of some kind, if you really want to.

This does come with some caveats, unfortunately. The promotion is just for first-time subscribers, so existing subs can't buy another year now and get the credit. The terms and conditions also seem to suggest that the store credit can only be redeemed and spent via the PlayStation 4 store or the official PlayStation website, not the PlayStation 5. Still, anything you buy from either platform can be played on a PS5, so it's all good.

If you fancy it and you fit the required criteria, go right ahead and treat yourself. If you don't? Well, as I said, I really don't care that much either way.
