It won't come as a much of a surprise to you to learn that developers around the world are currently hard at work on the very first games for Sony's upcoming PlayStation 5 console. However, while we now have a good idea of specs, the console's official name, and release window, we're still fairly in the dark when it comes that most important aspect of a console - the games.

Techland had previously confirmed that Dying Light 2 will be released on both current and next-gen hardware, so that's one game we can add to the list. We can also assume that a lot of the games releasing towards the end of this gen, such as The Last of Us Part 2 and Cyberpunk 2077, will be ported over to the PS5 eventually.

We now also know for sure that Bluepoint, a developer that specialises in remasters and remakes, is working on a game for PS5 - and apparently it's big. Bluepoint's previous projects include Shadow of The Colossus, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, and Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, all of which were really very well-handled remasters.

While we have no idea what Bluepoint's mystery project is, there are some likely contenders. The immediate front-runner is a remaster of Demon's Souls, the Sony-owned FromSoftware title that served as the precursor to a little-known franchise called Dark Souls.

The original game just celebrated its tenth anniversary, and creator Hidetaka Miyazaki last year have his blessing for another studio to handle a remake, if one were to ever become a reality. Plus, you know, Sony owns it so they can pretty much do what they want with it.

Former IGN editor Colin Moriarty also recently claimed to have some insider knowledge, teasing that Sony had previously planned to announce something for PS4 during a State of Play but decided not to. "Let's just say the soul still burns with that one," he teased, in a clear reference to Demon's Souls.

Could such a project have been planned for PS4 but moved over the PS5 at the last minute? It's certainly not impossible.

While not as likely as Demon's Souls, there's also a fairly realistic chance that Bluepoint could be working on a ground-up remake of the original Metal Gear Solid.

As mentioned above, Bluepoint had previously worked with Konami on the fairly basic remastered collection, so there's a history there. There's also the fact the franchise has been gone for a long time, if we don't count Pachinko machines and Metal Gear Survive - which you shouldn't unless you've seriously bumped your head.

"We're working on a big one right now. I'll let you figure out the rest," Bluepoint's President Marco Thrush told Wired of the mystery project. A "big one"... a reference to big boss? Am I reaching? Yes, yes I am.

Right now, there really isn't too much to go on that would outright confirm the existence of either game, but internet chatter certainly suggests Bluepoint are either working on Demon's Souls or Metal Gear Solid, with the former being the most likely.

Of course, internet chatter is often absolute horse poop, so please do take all of this with a pinch of salt for now, yeah?
