The Back Of PS5 Games Has Been Revealed

Guess who's back?

If you're one of the fans that have pre-ordered the PlayStation 5 rather than the PlayStation 5 Digital, then you'll be happy to know that we now know what the back of a PlayStation 5 game box looks like. Congrats. If you're going to have these boxes on a shelf, it's sort of nice to know what they'll look like, right?

Randy Pitchford, best known as the CEO of Gearbox - the devs behind games like the Borderlands series - has shown off the "first PS5 game" Godfall on his Twitter account, looking delighted with the result.

Godfall is an upcoming looter-slasher action game. Think of Borderlands in terms of looting, but with more medieval weaponry and space suit armour. An interesting combination for sure, but as it's designed for the PS5 we won't find out until the console is launched in November.

Anyway, the reason that Randy Pitchford is showing off the game, is because Gearbox's publishing division is helping Counterplay Games (the development team) to publish Godfall. Pitchford writes "Attention fellow game lovers, peers and enthusiasts: Behold the first PlayStation 5 game! Hot off the presses, this is the first to manufacture next-gen retail game in the world. Congratulations to Counterplay Games and the team here at Gearbox Publishing!"

The four photos attached show the game in physical form as well as the back of the PlayStation 5 box, something we haven't had a good look at before now. In what may be a surprise to some, there aren't any outstanding differences between the PS4 box and the PS5 box. Between each generation, there is often a shakeup of packaging but this time the biggest change on the PS5 has a white background while the PS4 has the blue background on the front and side of the box.

Although some may find this a little samey, it's nice that our PlayStation games can now conform on the shelf. Having to find yet another shelving unit that suits our collection is getting a little annoying now so it's a nice positive in the end.
