'The Last Of Us Part 2' Streamer Destroys Disc After Watching Upsetting Scene

The Last Of Us Part II is a great game, but it's also an incredibly rough ride. Ellie's quest for revenge is brutal, shocking, and arguably a little too violent at times... but that's all part of what makes it such an important and impactful experience.

Unfortunately, not everyone is on board with Naughty Dog's latest effort. If you've taken a look at the game's Metacritic user score or scrolled through the comment section on any article or video related to The Last Of Us Part II, you probably already know what caused a lot of gamers to kick up a fuss.

I won't spoil it for you here on the off-chance that you genuinely don't know yet, but there's a scene early on in the game that inspired a knee-jerk reaction among a lot of gamers who really connected with the original game. In an incredible new video, we now get to see that reaction in real-time, as a clearly upset streamer destroys his copy of the game in response to the divisive moment.

As spotted by Game Rant, A popular Starcraft streamer called Crank responded to the scene by removing his copy of The Last Of Us Part II and cutting it in two with a pair of scissors. You can watch it below free from fear of spoilers, as the scene in question doesn't appear in the clip. However, I will be speaking specifically about what the scene is and why it seems to affected Crank so after the video. You've been warned.

As I'm sure you probably guessed, Crank took issue with the scene in which Joel is brutally beaten to death with a golf club - as so many others have. It's an undeniably difficult scene for those of us who loved the world and characters of the first game, but it's also a necessary part of the larger story.

But according to many of Crank's fans, Joel's death hit a little deeper for him. It's being claimed that Joel reminds the streamer of his own father, who he sadly lost to cancer some years ago. While it's true that Crank did lose his father, I can't verify whether or not what the fans are saying in regards to his connection to Joel is legitimate.

If this is the case - and I can't stress enough that we don't know for sure - then it's certainly understandable that Crank was so upset by the scene. With that said, I would point out that there are plenty of gamers out there who are reminded of lost loved ones and past traumas while playing The Last Of Us Part II, and none of them responded like this. If they did, they certainly didn't stream it.
