'The Last Of Us' Stars Reunite To Play Through The First Game

Together again.

I don't know if you've heard, but they say that The Last Of Us is a rather good game. Naughty Dog's 2013 post-apocalyptic adventure was a harrowing, emotional ride through a world that was decaying - in every sense. Through it all, players came to be invested in the core relationship between Joel and Ellie, played to perfection by Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson respectively.

As we eagerly await the arrival of The Last Of Us Part 2 in May, the stars of the original game have reunited to play through their first journey together. Johnson appeared as a special guest on Retro Replay, an excellent gaming channel hosted by Troy Baker and fellow actor Nolan North.

If you've never given the channel a proper look before, it's absolutely worth your time. Baker and North typically play through a game and have a bit of a chat. It's endearing stuff, but it tends to get especially interesting when they're playing through games they've starred in, as they're able to offer unique insights or reminisce about their time working on a certain title.

Baker and North started the "definitive" playthrough of The Last Of Us back in November with an incredibly memorable first episode in which North was (quite rightly) left in stunned silence after seeing the game's iconic opening segment for the first time.

We're now 12 episodes into the playthrough, and Johnson has come aboard to play through the later part of the game with her co-stars. You can check out the full episode below.

The majority of the episode takes place during the "Winter" segment of The Last Of Us. You might remember that this is where Ellie encounters David, a fellow survivor who reveals himself to be really, properly nasty. David is actually played by Nolan North, so watching Ellie and David attempt to murder each other in the game while Johnson and North natter about this and that is really... quite an odd experience.

While there wasn't much talk about the upcoming sequel, Johnson did hint that she'd been training with a bow and arrow for Part 2. Baker complemented Johnson's archery skills, and asked her what it was that got her interested in the sport in the first place. She explained that it "came from wanting to get at better at that skill for... I don't know if I can say this... for the second game".

Clearly worrying that she might have given something away, she quickly added that doesn't necessarily mean there'll be an archery option in the game. Of course, official trailers and demo footage have already shown Ellie using a bow and arrow in The Last Of Us Part 2. It was also the character's weapon of choice in the first game, so I don't think Johnson really spoiled anything major.

Besides, we didn't come to the episode to mine for spoilers on The Last Of Us Part 2. We just wanted to see three lovely actors and friends play a game and catch up - and that's exactly what we got.
