The latest edition of Official PlayStation Magazine appears to have confirmed the existence of The Sims 5, alongside a number of other upcoming games for the PlayStation 5. As spotted by PSU, the June 20th issue of the magazine is offering a deep dive on 38 games coming to the next-gen console, and a leak appears to have detailed the full list.

As you can see via the tweet below, there's a fairly substantial line-up of games. Among them are titles we already knew about, including Assassin's Creed Valhalla, The Elder Scrolls VI, Watch Dogs: Legion and Dragon Age 4. However, there are also a few so-far-unannounced surprises - most notably Battlefield 6 and The Sims 5 from EA.

We know that EA plans to hold a special EA Play event on June 11th, during which it'll likely show off a few new games. It would make sense, then, that OPM already has the skinny on what those games will be. We'd heard previously that EA was planning to release Battlefield 6 in 2021, but The Sims 5 is a complete shocker - especially given how many expansion packs continue to release for The Sims 4.

The listing appears to describe The Sims 5 as a "generation-spanning sequel", implying that it'll likely come to PS4 and Xbox One, too. There's also talk of potential online features, which could open up a whole new world of Sims-related fun.

While this certainly looks legitimate, I would advise taking this with a pinch of salt for now. It's unclear exactly where the above image came from, meaning there's every chance that a bored prankster could simply have put a fake together to get people excited.

Having The Sims 5 would certainly be one hell of a way to get a large audience, which The Sims sure has, as invested as possible in the next-gen hardware, but we'll have to wait and see. If the game is legitimate, we'll more than likely hear about it during EA Play. However, there's also a chance we could see something of the game during Sony's long-rumoured PS5 reveal event.

According to multiple reports, Sony is finally going ahead with the long-rumoured PS5 reveal event in early June. With Official PlayStation Magazine lifting the lid on so many PS5 titles next month, it definitely lines up.
