This Portable PlayStation 4 Is A Thing Of Beauty, And I Need One Immediately

Gaming? On the go? I refuse to believe it.

I love my PlayStation 4, and even though it's since been unplugged and packed away to make room for my PlayStation 5, I have nothing but fond memories of my time with the console. Swinging through the air with Spider-Man. Bodying demons with Kratos. Coming to terms with the corrosive nature of hate and revenge with Joel and Ellie. Good times.

If I had my way, I'd take my PlayStation 4 everywhere with me, so that I could enjoy all the console's great exclusives on the go. Don't get me wrong, I love my Nintendo Switch, but you can't play God Of War on a Switch. That's a deal-breaker right there. Fortunately, there are those out there who dare to dream of a world in which the PS4 is a console for the gamer on the go - enter technician and Twitter user DX Terraria, who has completed work on a beautiful portable PS4 after 10 months of work.

A video of the impressive creation, which you can see for yourself below, shows the console in all its glory. The only downside is that it weighs in at 6.4kg... not the most convenient portable device, but the whole thing has been incorporated into a slick briefcase that can be closed and carried around quickly and efficiently.

Terraria explained that the console cost them approximately 50,000 yen (£355) to build. They also noted that if they were to sell it on (which it seems is not on the cards anytime soon), they'd do so for roughly 150,000 yen (£1,066). Okay, so maybe I don't want a portable PlayStation 4 that badly.

The other, fairly major downside to this build, is that it has a battery life of roughly one hour. It can be plugged into the mains if needed, but that rather defeats the point of it as a portable console, doesn't it? I guess at the very least it's an efficient way of carting a PS4 to someone else's house if you're headed over to stay and know they don't have any video games.

I think I'll probably just stick to my Nintendo Switch for now, to be honest.
