Earlier this year, apparently too many people at Sony heard “if the PS VR is so good, why don’t they make a PS VR2?”, because that’s exactly what they’ve decided to call their upcoming, upgraded VR technology. The VR2 promises a “true next-gen experience” and a greater sense of immersion - players will apparently be able to experience a heightened range of sensations.

Up until now, we had no idea when the VR2 or the new VR2 Sense controller were set to release, but as reported by TechRaptor, last night, Sony made a very random announcement on Twitter confirming that we don’t have that long to wait - the tech will apparently be coming out sometime in early 2023. Admittedly, that’s still pretty vague, but it seems we’ll probably only have a few more months to wait.
Excitingly, that also suggests that the new Horizon game, Call of the Mountain, could be upon us fairly soon too. Yup, that’s a thing - the entirely new Horizon adventure is being developed by Guerrilla and Firesprite Games, and being built from the ground up specifically for the VR2. The story will be told through the eyes of a new character - sorry, Aloy fans - but you’ll still meet the red-headed Nora, as well as other fresh and familiar faces throughout the adventure.

Although Call of the Mountain isn’t the only game that we know is coming to VR2, it’s probably the one that a lot of people are the most excited about, so fingers crossed it could be a launch title - we’ll just have to wait and see.
