Pokémon Cards Return To McDonald's Happy Meals, But Some People Are Not Happy

Fans flocking to McDonalds for a Pokémon Happy Meal didn't get quite the experience they expected.

There’s something inherently joyous about Pokémon. It could be the fact that the newly introduced Fidough and Lechonk are living memes. That being said, it makes perfect sense to combine Pokémon with something equally joyous: A Happy Meal. Little in this world is better than a golden crispy chicken nug, but add in a Pokémon card and I am one happy Kate. Some fans haven’t quite been getting that experience though.

Check out the latest gameplay reveal for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet below.

In case you missed it, McDonald’s is currently selling Pokémon themed Happy Meals which include a Pikachu box, a Pokémon spinner, a cardboard Pokémon coin, and a pack of four trading cards. I’m yet to get my hands on one but GAMINGbible’s very own Catherine did and attested, "McDonalds nuggies have truly never tasted better than when bundled in with some sparkly Pokémon cards, 10/10 would overcome the awkwardness of asking for a kid's meal as a full grown adult again.” Thanks again, to our McDonalds correspondent: Catherine Lewis.

The problem is, some customers have reported getting a very different gift: A Space Jam 2 toy. As reported by Kotaku, Twitter user the_real_ZUNACH purchased a whopping seven Happy Meals and all of these contained Space Jam 2 toys. Jonnxone was baited with a Pikachu box but tweeted that all four of the Pokémon themed boxes had Space Jam 2 toys.

JJCTroy received two Marvel boxes filled with Space Jam 2 toys, and Bluntme22iah also got some leftover Space Jam 2 tat. It’s an odd affair because Space Jam 2 released over a year ago, so I guess these were clogging up the stockroom. McDonald’s haven’t commented on the mix up so if you’re on the hunt for a Pokémon meal, I guess you’ve just got to cross your fingers.
