Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys has apologised for what she says was intended as a "harmless joke" that grew out of hand following blacklash on Twitch earlier this week.

The popular streamer raised some eyebrows during a recent stream when she jokingly commented that “all women belong in the kitchen” during a recent stream. This was in response to a viewer asking her if she felt women should still cook and clean in relationships.

While it seems pretty clear from the clip that she was being totally sarcastic and obviously doesn't believe this at all, the internet is a perpetual outrage machine.

Anys made these comments on December 7, and for over a week has dealt with viewers asking her if she was being serious. Clearly growing tired of the questions, the streamer made an attempt to put an end to the issue during a December 14 broadcast.

After yet another fan asked if she was being serious about a woman's place being in the kitchen, Anys responded in good humour. “For starters, I really like food, so I’m in the kitchen a lot," she laughed. "Secondly, I don’t make the rules, I just repeat them sometimes."

She then added: "“I think girls look really cute in aprons. So then really, why wouldn’t we want them to be in the kitchen?”

At this point the streamer broke into a laugh and apologized to anyone who might have been genuinely offended by her earlier comments, before going on to insist she's absolutely not sexist.

“It was a f**king joke dudes,” she said. “I feel like the worst thing is having to explain a joke. Really, guys, don’t worry guys. God, I’m not sexist. On God, for real, not sexist by the way. I bet you a buck fifty that I’m not, I swear.

“Me supporting other female streamers and always talking about gendered issues, oh no, that’s the front. My one kitchen joke, for sure means I’m sexist.”
