Supposed Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Switch model is a thing of beauty

Supposed Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Switch model is a thing of beauty

It's not a 'need.' But it's pretty close.

Photos of a supposed The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Switch have shown up and if this thing is the real deal, then Nintendo have knocked it out of the park.

It's a fitting homage to the sequel which has been in the works for what feels like 100 years. The trailer which seemed to suggest a darker tone for the sequel came out in the summer of 2021 and then there was silence from the developer. Usually, this would be unsurprising, however the huge upheaval that the coronavirus crisis caused to the video game industry caused concern among fans who were waiting for the merest crumb of detail on the new game.

In case you missed it the first time, check out the trailer here:

Video Games Chronicle reported on the new Switch, sourcing photos from a user named Kysen on the Famiiboard forum. It's obviously important to take these images with a pinch of salt as they might be a fabulously effective fake. If it is fake, then Nintendo, hire that man. The Switch merges the gold and white concentric circles with the angular tattoos that Link has acquired since Breath of the Wild. The Joy-Cons represent these two halves too, and the colours are frankly gorgeous against the white OLED shell. Imagine playing the new game on this:

Cor. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is set for a release date of 12 May and this box looks like it doesn't come with the game, which was the case with other first-party themed Switch models. Right now, we'll have to wait and see whether this is real with no word from Nintendo at the time of writing.
