Post-Apocalyptic ‘Terminator’ Survival Game Is Reportedly In Development

Nacon Studio Milan confirmed that they're working a post-apocalyptic survival game based on a “worldwide famous film” licence.

Nacon has a busy few months ahead with both Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong and The Lord of The Rings: Gollum soon set to release. Amidst that, the French studio has opened a new Italien subsidiary, Nacon Studio Milan, who are said to be working on a major new project.

The project has been described as a post-apocalyptic survival game based on a “worldwide famous film” licence. To accompany the announcement, the studio posted two concept images to its website. Nacon is remaining quiet on which film franchise they’re adapting, but it looks like the concept art contains one huge clue. Another The Terminator game could well be coming.

Excited for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum? Take a closer look at the upcoming title below with the game's producer.

In one of the concept images, an ‘Alamo Sport Shop’ sign can be seen outside of a gun store and this is a location that features in 1984’s The Terminator. It’s where T-800 purchases his weapons before setting off on his mission to kill Sarah Connor.

Admittedly, it’s not much to go on but surely a clear link like this cannot be a coincidence. As with any rumour, this must be taken with a pinch of salt until anything is officially confirmed by Nacon.

Teyon produced the last Terminator game which was 2019’s first-person shooter Terminator: Resistance. The title was largely panned, but Nacon’s decision to pitch this new title as a survival game sounds promising. The concept art has a The Last of Us-esque quality and I could see that style of gameplay working well in a Terminator-inspired project.

Job listings at Nacon reveal that they’re looking for a combat designer to work on both shooting and melee combat. Overall, it sounds like Nacon could be working on a great game. Hopefully that proves to be true, despite The Terminator’s rocky gaming history.
