In a crossover no one saw coming, Marvel has officially announced the Wolverine will be facing off against Predator in a limited-run comic series.
That’s right, the seemingly unkillable Logan will be hunted by a Predator, who’s obviously identified the mutant as a worthy adversary and a potential trophy.

Written by Benjamin Percy, the series will comprise of four issues, each releasing separately, and will feature art by Andrea Di Vito, Ken Lashley, Kei Zama, Greg Land, and a few more artists.
The plot synopsis is as follows: “One Yautja seeks the greatest prey in existence – and finds it in Weapon X. From the blood-ridden snows of the Canadian wilderness to the sword-slinging streets of Madripoor, Wolverine and a Predator break everything in their paths on their way to the ultimate victory…or glorious death.”

It’s stated that the story will actually take place across several decades, as Logan has lived for a very long time due to his enhanced healing factor. The plot implies that the Predator has made several attempts on Logan’s life over the years, with their skirmishes leading up to a climactic battle that will take place towards the end of the series.
Speaking about the ambitious crossover, writer Benjamin Percy said, “I'm not going to say I was born to write this crossover... but sometimes the universe reveals why you were created. I am a child of the eighties. I cannot tell you how many times I watched Predator, just as I cannot tell you how many Wolverine comics I have read, because that would be like telling you how many breaths I've taken or cheeseburgers I've eaten.”
Strangely enough, this isn’t the first time the Predators have taken on beloved superheroes, but it is the first time they’ve made their way into the Marvel universe. The world's greatest detective Batman fought a Predator once, which pushed him to his very limit, and the man of steel, Superman (not the Nicolas Cage version), also had to deal with them at one point. Superman has also had an encounter with the main adversaries of the Predators, the Xenomorphs. With the Wolverine's reputation of being hard to kill, the Predator may have bitten off more than they can chew with this hunt. The first issue of Predator Vs Wolverine will be released this September.
In other news, Insomniac Games are working on a Wolverine game set in the Marvel’s Spider-Man universe. No gameplay has been shown so far but it’s been confirmed the game will be M-rated and will likely be revealed after the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which recently got a release date.
