'Red Dead Redemption 2' Stadia Player Losing 6,000 Hours Of Progress

One Stadia player risks losing a 6,000 hour Red Dead Redemption 2 save following Google's shock announcement.

As I’m sure you’re now aware, Google has officially announced that Stadia will shut down on 18 January, 2023. Employees reportedly found out about the closure just 45 minutes before the public. All Stadia-related hardware, games, and add-on content purchased through the Google Store will be refunded to customers. Indie developers have since taken to social media to share how the decision will impact their upcoming releases, but it’s a move that will impact players too. One Red Dead Redemption 2 player has revealed that they could lose 6,000 hours worth of progress.

Take a look at some of our favourite Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below.

As reported by GamesRadar, Twitter user ItsColourTV took to the site share their dismay. They tweeted, “No, you don’t understand how seriously p*ssed off I am,” alongside a screenshot showing that they’ve spent almost 5,908 hours playing Red Dead Redemption 2 on Stadia so far. Following Google’s announcement, ItsColourTV faces losing all of their progress.

The user explained, “For context, these hours are on Google Stadia and today Google announced they'll be shutting down the platform. Rockstar Games, please let us do a one-time character transfer. I am begging you.” As pointed out by GamesRadar, that’s 246 days worth of play which could soon be lost.

Already, Red Dead Redemption fans are rallying behind ItsColourTV as they try to help the guy get Rockstar Games’ attention. Well hey, here’s us throwing our hat in the ring too. Rockstar, don’t let this dedication go to waste.
