Red Dead Redemption 2 Hardcore Mode completely changes the game, and it's free

This incredible Red Dead Redemption 2 Hardcore Mode completely overhauls the game, and you can enjoy it for free.

Red Dead Redemption 2 may be celebrating its six-year anniversary this October but that has not stopped fans from coming up with new and inventive ways to take on the award-winning action-adventure title.

Released by Rockstar Games back in 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2 has gone on to become one of the biggest games of all time. Telling the story of gunslinger Arthur Morgan, we take on the role of the grumpy but loveable cowboy as he explores the American southwest during the late 1800s. Featuring characters such as Red Dead Redemption’s John Marston and more, the game is as loved today as it was back in 2018.

However, with the title only being able to offer so much despite an expansive open-world, many players have turned their attention to finding new and inventive ways to experience it. That is certainly the case for Reddit user javc13 who has come up with a way to play Red Dead Redemption 2 on a “hardcore mode”.

Although the game itself doesn’t offer this hardcore mode, javc13 has come up with a list of ways which will make it a lot more challenging. This includes such things as hiding the mini-map, not using dead-eye or any aim-assist, not upgrading weapons, no elite horses, donating 50%+ of any earnings to camp, no fast travel and more.

If you have played RDR2 before, then you will already have a slight idea of how much more difficult this will make gameplay. Additionally, javc13 also recommends not using any online guides whilst still trying to 100% the game. This means finding all those pesky dinosaur bones yourself. Good luck with that!

As you can expect with any challenge, many comments suggest even more challenging ways to make Red Dead Redemption 2 almost impossible to complete. Are you up to the task? Better you than me!
