'Red Dead Redemption 2' Is Finally Getting The Update Fans Have Begged For

Red Dead Redemption 2 - Yee-Hawmastered

I'm not going to lie to you, reader; I'll take any excuse to replay Red Dead Redemption 2. Luckily for me, it sounds as if the best possible excuse is finally on the horizon.

According to a new report, Rockstar Games' critically acclaimed Western is finally getting the update fans have been waiting for, in the form of a shiny new version of the game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles.

Take a look at some of the best Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below!

While it's true that you can currently play Red Dead Redemption 2 on new-gen hardware via backwards compatibility, it's still the PS4/Xbox One version of the game. As such, it doesn't take full advantage of things like enhanced resolutions and framerates - two very minor updates that would make the already stunning Western look better than ever.

Rockstar Games insider Tez2 recently claimed that the game is being polished up for new-gen consoles and will be released "at some point down the road." They added that the enhanced version is likely to be released via an update for those who already own the game, and will not be a separate release akin to the recent GTA V new-gen launch.

Unfortunately, Tez2 finished by admitting they have "no idea" when the new-gen version could launch, but we'd surprised if it wasn't something Rockstar Games was already working on.

This isn't the first we've heard of a new-gen Red Dead Redemption 2. Back in May, recently "retired" insider AccountNGT claimed in a series of now-deleted tweets that the enhanced version is "coming". Sadly, they were unable to share any indication as to when we can expect it.
