Poor old Red Dead Redemption 2. Despite being one of the most iconic and popular video games of all time, it really doesn’t seem to get the recognition you’d expect it to from the people who actually made it.
Rockstar Games is a company with a lot on its plate, to be fair. It’s developed so many outstanding games, including Manhunt, Bully, and the entire Grand Theft Auto series. To be fair, it’s probably because of GTA (namely, the next game in the series) that Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to get forgotten, which is a rather bittersweet thought. We all want GTA VI, but come on, now.

Earlier this year, Red Dead Redemption 2 smashed its all-time concurrent player record on Steam. In fact, it broke the record again since the last time we reported on it - currently, the peak stands at 70,914 concurrent players (according to data from SteamDB). That’s seriously impressive for a single-player game that’s been out for almost five years.

Now, PCGamesN reports that between 17 and 25 April, Red Dead Redemption 2 was the fourth best-selling game on Steam (not counting free games like Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0). Considering that it was up against both newer games and exciting upcoming releases like Resident Evil 4 (the remake, that is) and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, that’s seriously impressive.
Last year, Rockstar Games confirmed that it's basically done with Red Dead Online, despite pleas from fans to keep it going. Many were left frustrated that such a fun game is already being left in the dust after five years when the GTA equivalent, GTA Online, is still going strong after almost a decade.
Unfortunately, for as long as development on the upcoming GTA game continues, it doesn’t seem likely that Rockstar’s priorities will change. Sad yeehaws in the chat.
