'Red Dead Redemption 2' Player Finds Heartbreaking Epilogue Secret

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a ridiculously massive game - both in terms of its story and stunning open world.

While Arthur Morgan's journey from no-good outlaw to repentant dead man walking is an emotional one, it's also incredibly long. As such, it's understandable that not everyone got to Red Dead Redemption 2's lengthy Epilogue chapter after nearly 40 hours and decided to keep playing.

As you probably know, the Epilogue lets players jump into the dusty boots of John Marston as he makes an honest go of starting a normal life for himself, Abigail, and Jack. It ties up a lot of loose ends, and ultimately gets everything lined up for the events of the original Red Dead Redemption.

I must confess that I didn't spend much time mucking about in this part of the game, and really only played through it to get through the story. As such, it turns out I'm one of many who missed a really rather lovely optional interaction between John and Abigail.

As you can see below, one player discovered a sweet animation in which John gently places his arms around Abigail, allowing the two of them to look out at the peaceful farmstead they've built together in silence.

It's a really wonderful moment that once again speaks to the level of detail in Red Dead Redemption 2, and serves to make John's ultimate fate in Red Dead Redemption that much more heartbreaking. Enjoy the peace and quiet while you can, old friend, because it's not going to last much longer.
