Red Dead Redemption 2 superfan Jack Black’s real name isn’t actually Jack Black

Red Dead Redemption 2 superfan Jack Black’s real name isn’t actually Jack Black

So you're telling us that Red Dead Redemption 2 superfan Jack Black isn't his real name?

As well as being an avid gamer, Jack Black is one of the most beloved actors and musicians on the planet, but is he really who he says he is? Cue the Twilight Zone theme music.

Not only is Jack Black the co-founder of the rock band Tenacious D with his best buddy Kyle Gass, but he’s also starred in legendary movies such as School of Rock, Nacho Libre, Kung Fu Panda, Tropic Thunder and much more. One of his most recent movies is the box office smash, Super Mario Bros. Movie in which he played the role of Bowser with absolute perfection.

Jack Black is no stranger to starring in video games too such as Psychonauts 2, and Brutal Legend, and even made a cameo appearance in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 as Officer Dick. Oh, and Mr Black is also a Red Dead Redemption 2 superfan. However, what if Jack Black is not real, what if he’s a figment of our imagination? Ok, that might be a little dramatic, but you may be surprised to know that Jack Black isn't his real name, but rather a shortened version of his middle name.

Born on 28 August 1969 (nice) in Santa Monica, California the United States, Jack Black’s real name is Thomas Jacob Black. I know, the shock horror! That being said, it’s not uncommon for actors and musicians to change their names for ease of marketing, more commonly known as ‘stage names’. For example, Jason isn't the first name of DC Aquaman star, Jason Momoa. His real first name is Joseph. What’s more, WWE’s Roman Reigns’ real name is Leati Joseph Anoaʻi.

To be fair to the likes of Jack Black, we think that his stage name sounds better and Roman Reign’s certainly rolls off the tongue much easier for us common folk.
