'Resident Evil Village' Is Getting Free DLC

Resident Evil Village players will be treated to free DLC in the future, and we’ve got our fingers crossed that one of the series’ most popular characters will return in an extra chapter. 

Released in May to a raucous reception, the game was a runaway success and not only for the feelings that Lady Dimitrescu struck in her fans. In his review, Mark described Village as a mix of the “greatest hits” from the classic survival horror series and added some surprising influences into the pot, too. 

Ergo, the announcement that the game is getting free DLC is a lycan’s howl to our ears. Terrifying but I’ll be damned if I’m not going to go and see what the ruckus is about. Yoichi Egawa, director and executive officer for Capcom, explained what players will look forward to in the company's annual integrated report.

“We will drive our customer management to understand the playing trends and preferences of users while also building a business model for online operations,” said Egawa. “Taking into account the situation of our free additional DLC for titles such as Monster Hunter Rise and Resident Evil Village.”

There is one theory about who could appear in an extra story for players — Ada Wong. Scrolling through concept art, which is unlocked in one of the menus of the game, she’s there dressed in a stylish plague doctor disguise. Ada was meant to pop up in Village in much the same manner that she does in Resident Evil 4, but her return was cut from the plot due to “a number of conflicting scenarios.” 

Alternatively, as we are all aware, Resident Evil Village is an elaborate tribute to Hot Fuzz so it’s possible that the DLC will tie into this. We’ve never seen the village before the chaos of the Four Lords and Mother Miranda caused it to become dangerous and dilapidated. There could have been markets, flower shows, model villages and more, and a prequel story could show how the survivors that Ethan meets spent their days.
