The series, simply titled Resident Evil, will be dropping exclusively on Netflix on 14 July, so there’s not too long to wait now. It promises “the best” of the game series’ DNA, including cool heroines, wild creatures (with some that fans will recognise), and a deep mystery.
Enough from me, check out the first trailer for Resident Evil right here.
“Year 2036 - 14 years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse, Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by the blood-thirsty infected and insane creatures,” the official synopsis reads. “In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father’s chilling connections to the Umbrella Corporation but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie.”
So, how about it? Believe it or not, things don’t end there - there’s actually yet another trailer hidden within the footage. At around the 14 second mark, eagle-eyed viewers might just spot a sneaky ‘lil QR code, which actually does work if you scan it. I won’t give anything else away, but be sure to give it a peek - I personally thought it was way more interesting than the trailer above, but that’s just me.
How about the cast? Last year, it was announced that Lance Reddick (Charon in the John Wick movies, and also the voice of Sylens in Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West) would be playing the role of the villainous Albert Wesker, and I think we can all agree that was an excellent choice. The other stars include Ella Balinska (Charlie’s Angels ), Tamara Smart (Artemis Fowl), Siena Agudong (Killer Women), and Adeline Rudolph (Riverdale).
The series aims to tell a story that Resident Evil fans have never heard before, so if you don’t want to miss out on any potential juicy lore, be sure to check it out when it premieres in a couple of months’ time.
