Nowadays, if someone says ‘Insomniac Games’, the first titles that’d spring to mind for most people would probably be Marvel’s Spider-Man, Miles Morales, Wolverine, and Ratchet and Clank, but the studio is responsible for another big series, which I think we can all agree is well overdue a revival.
You’ve read the headline - it’s Resistance, of course. The first game, Resistance: Fall of Man, was one of the PS3’s launch titles back in 2006, and was a pretty fantastic post-apocalyptic shooter. It had two equally well-received main-series sequels, which released in 2008 and 2011 respectively, as well as Resistance: Retribution on the PSP and Burning Skies on the PS Vita, which marked the series’ most recent release, in 2012. That’s right, 2012. It’s been a minute, to say the least. But after all this time, it seems that we might finally see Resistance make it onto modern consoles.

As reported by Gematsu, that aforementioned PSP title, Retribution, has been rated for the PS4 and PS5 by the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea, suggesting that it could be on its way to the overhauled PlayStation Plus service’s library of classic games (for Premium tier subscribers, that is). Currently, the service is only available in Asia, but it’s due to launch on 13 June in America, and 23 June in Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

At launch, the lineup of older titles available only included one PSP game, so it’s nice to think that there’s some more of those on the way, especially from a series which has gone forgotten for so long. Sony already confirmed that the Extra and Premium tier game catalogues are going to be updated every month, so it hopefully won’t be too long until we see this title added to the list.
