Russian Twitch Streamer Says She Was Banned For "Being Born In The Wrong Country"

A popular Russian Twitch streamer known as Mira has claimed her latest ban from the platform is because she was "born in the wrong country".

Mira was banned from Twitch on March 4, and viewers have been speculating what she might have done to prompt this fresh punishment from the Amazon-owned streaming giant. While some believe it's because she showed inappropriate content during her stream, Mira herself has said Twitch hasn't provided a clear reason.

During a stream (thanks, Dexerto) on YouTube following her Twitch ban - which she fears may be permanent - Mira claimed that Twitch has taken action against her because she was born in Russia.

In the unlikely event you haven't been paying attention to the news, Russia's widely condemned invasion of Ukraine has been met with global sanctions from various governments. Even businesses have taken a stance, with video game companies like CD Projekt and Microsoft banning sales of their products in Russia until further notice.

It is incredibly unlikely that Twitch has opted to ban one Russia streamer currently living in the US as a response to the invasion, but this is what Mira believes has happened.

“I didn’t do anything f**king wrong,” she said in a YouTube stream that has since been made private. “Not on f**king Instagram, not on f**king Twitch, not on f**king Russia. I was born in the wrong country, I’m sorry.”

Mira added that Twitch must have gone looking for a reason to ban her from the platform, but stressed she felt there was no valid cause for her to have received a permanent ban. She slammed Twitch as a "piece of sh*t" streaming platform, noting she'll probably give streaming up if she can't get her channel back.

Mira has previously been banned on Twitch for a number of community guidelines violations, including accidentally showing nudity during a stream.
