'Saints Row' Character Customisation Will Have Zero Gender Restrictions

So, whether you like it or not, the Saints Row reboot is well and truly on its way. When it was first announced in August last year, reaction was really mixed, to say the least - whether that was in part due to the fact its PC release will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store, or maybe that the reboot isn’t going to be quite as edgy as some of the previous iterations in the series fans know and love, it’s certainly not got the resounding support that Deep Silver were probably hoping for.

That’s not stopping the devs from seemingly putting everything they can into it, though. As reported by IGN, it was previously claimed that the game would feature the series’ “biggest customisation suite” ever, and based on the latest trailer, they definitely weren’t kidding.

As you can see, it looks like there’s basically nothing that you won’t be able to customise, from the weapons and cars, to your headquarters. The most expansive options definitely seem to be for your actual character, though - whether it’s eyebrow colour, skin texture, vein definition, or even the glossiness of your teeth, it looks like the devs were trying to see just how long they could keep everyone fiddling around in the character creator before actually playing the game. Quite a long time, by the looks of it.

Clearly, there’s no restrictions placed on any of the customisation options based on your character’s gender, either, so you can really make them look however you want, with no silly rules stopping you from putting on that one top you like - shirts, shoes, skirts, socks, and literally everything else can be worn by anyone, no questions asked. Whether you’re interested in the game or not, you can’t deny that this specifically is really cool, and more titles definitely need to follow suit.

Saints Row is releasing worldwide on 23 August.
