Saw game The Jigsaw Trials officially announced

Saw is one of the most gruesome, gory and grotesque horror movie franchises ever and that’s exactly why it earned a loyal legion of fans since its inception in 2004.

At the tail end of last month, the tenth mainline entry arrived in cinemas with Saw X promising new ways to torture its understandably unwilling cast of characters. Trust me, if you see a pasty white puppet on a bike that asks you “Do you want to play a game?”, drop-kick it in the throat and sprint like Forrest Gump after 12 cans of Red Bull.

Saw X has been well received by critics and fans alike garnering scores of 83% from critics and 90% from the audience on aggregate websites such as Rotten Tomatoes. What’s more, Saw X is said to be so sickening, that sick bags are apparently being handed out to cinemagoers. So it stands to reason that the powers that be would like to capitalise on its recent success outside of the silver screen.

One such way that the powers that be will capitalise on the success of the Saw franchise is by releasing a board game adaptation. However, I have a feeling this might not be the ideal theme for our family game night with my wife and 12-year-old son. The board game in question is Saw: The Jigsaw Trials, produced by Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures with it being designed by Iconiq Studios.

As reported by Dicebreaker, Saw: The Jigsaw Trials will be playable between two to six players with each session lasting around 75 minutes. Though if you’re anything like me, you’ll probably spend at least 75 minutes going over the rules and watching multiple YouTube guides until you actually play the damn game. The board game also carries an unsurprising age rating of 18+.

Saw: The Jigsaw Trials will be launching on Kickstarter on 31 October on a very befitting Halloween night and backer fulfilment and retail shipping are expected sometime in 2024. “Try to keep hold of your limbs in a new tabletop game based on the SAW movie franchise. Do you want to play a game?” reads the tagline on the Kickstarter page, where you can keep notified of its launch.
