I can't quite believe it. After quite literally years of rumours, false-starts, and internet whispers, it looks like we finally have our first look at the long-awaited return of Silent Hill.

A well-known industry leaker has shared a handful of screenshots they claim are from a new Silent Hill game. They add that the images were taken from a 2020 build of the game, and that it's not the only Silent Hill title in development as far as they're aware.

You'd be absolutely right to approach this news with a pinch of salt, but I want to make it clear that this is the most reliable Silent Hill rumour we've seen so far.

Firstly, the leak comes from AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem, who horror fans will know as an incredibly reliable industry insider. Most recently they accurately leaked pretty much the entirety of Resident Evil Village, right down to the inclusion of werewolf-like characters.

Secondly, the screenshots Dusk Golem provided on Twitter have since been taken down by a copyright strike. In this industry, that's almost always a guarantee that the thing that had been shared was absolutely legit. We won't be providing the images in this article, but you can see a screenshot of the original tweet (and the Silent Hill images) right here.

"There's a lot I'm not sharing for now," the leaker writes. This is from a relatively new source for me, but I have been given more than enough proof to believe them. I also will mention the names "Anita & Maya", "SMS Messages", & this is not the only SH game in dev.

"The shots are a bit dated, from 2020, so maybe this project looks a bit different now. But what I'm choosing to share. I know many will doubt this, but I have a lot of private proof to show this is real, & as always, I continue to wait on the Silent Hill game reveal."

Dusk Golem stopped short of confirming who might be developing this new game, but the prevalent rumour as of right now is that Bloober Team (Layers Of Fear, The Medium) is working on one of the games. Indeed, Bloober Team and Silent Hill IP owner Konami officially announced a partnership in June last year - and we can't imagine they'll be making Pachinko machines.

All in all, this is the biggest bit of Silent Hill news fans have had in a long, long time. Don't be surprised if we get an official reveal before long.
