This ‘Silent Hill’ Unreal Engine 5 Remake Will Really Put You On Edge

Chatter has been getting louder in the Silent Hill fanbase. Just a few weeks ago, screenshots of a potential Silent Hill reboot appeared online sending the internet into a frenzy and whilst a reboot hasn’t been confirmed by Konami, the screenshots are incredibly convincing.

As if that wasn’t enough, an industry insider also suggested that a remake of Silent Hill 2 was in development. In all honesty, we have no idea what Konami are cooking up (if anything at all) but given the amount of talk, surely something is in the works. In the meantime though, one fan has taken matters into their own hands.

YouTuber TeaserPlay has released an eerie Unreal Engine 5 Silent Hill remake project and the fan-made trailer definitely captures that uneasy stillness that Silent Hill does so well. It’s safe to say, I think we’d all love to see a Silent Hill remake. TeaserPlay’s fan-project could have fogged up the environments a tiny bit more to achieve that authentic Silent Hill atmosphere but given that this is just a fan project, it certainly captures the essence of what a remake should be.

Speaking about the project, TeaserPlay wrote, “In this video, we are going to imagine Silent Hill (1999). [...] We used Lumen for rendering this and placed the camera in a close third person [position] and tried to bring the deep and horrific atmosphere of the original game into Unreal Engine. We also used unusual editing to induce a classic nightmare feeling, we hope you enjoy the result.”

TeaserPlay is no stranger to remake projects having already worked on incredible Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and San Andreas remakes, which are really worth checking out. With a number of major gaming showcases coming up, perhaps Konami could finally put our theories to rest and make a Silent Hill related announcement. That’s what we’re hoping for anyway.
