Simpsons Hit And Run developer really wants a remake

There’s one game I played more than any other on the PlayStation 2. Yes, that game is The Simpsons: Hit & Run.

I was so young that admittedly, I’m not sure I ever completed it as a child - instead opting to treat it like a driving sim after the first couple of easy levels. It’s acceptable for that age … right? You’ll be pleased to know I’ve since revisited the game after dragging the PlayStation 2 out of the loft and the game is just as special as I remembered it to be, whilst also being a hell of a lot clunkier. It’s no secret that fans are desperate for a remaster or remake. An open-world fan-made remake is in the works, but we’re also craving some official news. Well, you’ll be thrilled to learn that the game’s designer is keen to make a remake.

GamesRadar previously sat down with Hit & Run’s lead game designer Joe McGinn who told the site, "Hit & Run is still the highest rated Simpsons game ever made, according to Metacritic. And if I sound proud of that, yeah I am a bit. I am very surprised and pleased that people still love the game. I gave a talk to some high school kids about my computer science career the other day, and I was amazed that some of them had played Hit & Run. They weren't even born when it came out!"

When asked specifically if he could see a remake happening, McGinn explained that while he didn’t know how likely it would be, he confirmed that he’d “love to see it”. Wouldn’t we all?

McGinn also revealed that the game was originally pitched to publishers with the description, “GTA for kids,” which if you’ve played Hit & Run, you’ll know is an incredibly apt description. We can only hope that a remake surfaces one day.
