'Simpsons Hit And Run' Gets Stunning Open World Remake

'Simpsons Hit And Run' Gets Stunning Open World Remake

I am evil Homer

The Simpsons Hit And Run is an incredible video game, and one that gamers of a certain age will never be able to forget about.

Released all the way back in 2003 (a simpler time if ever there was one), developer Radical Entertainment released a game with a premise so inspired that I'm amazed it hasn't been done since: The Simpsons does Grand Theft Auto.

It was simple, but effective. Players were able to freely a number of sandbox areas that were absolutely stuffed with in-jokes from back when the show was actually good, with references that ranged from drivable vehicles and wearable outfits to the locations themselves.

If you wanted to ignore the game's story (which involved an alien invasion) to drive around Springfield in Mr Plow while wearing Homer's Mumu, you could totally do that.

Despite the fact that The Simpsons Hit And Run is one of the most in-demand video game remakes of all time, it's unlikely we'll ever see an official one thanks to a mess of licensing issues. Fortunately, one talented fan has taken it upon themselves to give us the remake we desire - even going so far as to combine all those smaller sandbox areas into one, cohesive open-world Springfield.

Take a look at the stunning in-development effort below!

Alas, the project's creator, reubs, has made it very clear that this particular piece of work will never be able to download. In other words, you aren't getting your hands on an open-world Hit And Run any time soon. I know, I'm heartbroken too.
