Simpsons Hit And Run sequel petition closes in on 30,000 signatures

A petition demanding a The Simpsons: Hit & Run remake is closing in on 30,000 signatures.

The Simpsons: Hit & Run is a generation-defining classic, if you ask me. It was undeniably a titan of the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube era - and whenever you bring it up today, it’s one of those titles that’s instantly met with the response, ‘That needs a remake.’ The demand for such a project is so high and yet here we are, a whopping 20 years after release with no remake to speak of.

Fans are trying their hardest though. In fact, one has taken matters into their own hands, creating an open world remake themselves. The project is ‘almost done’ and it’s definitely worth checking out if you haven’t already. In case you missed it, Hit & Run’s original producer Vlad Ceraldi has said he’s on board with the idea of a remake. To try and grab the attention of studios, fans put together a petition. Admittedly, this petition has been out in the wilds for quite some time, but it’s finally nearing a major milestone.

Speaking of the PS2 era, take a look at some of our favourite titles of the era below.

The petition requesting that a The Simpsons: Hit & Run remake be made is finally closing in on an incredible 30,000 signatures. At the time of writing, the number sits at 29,896 so go ahead and sign if you haven’t already to help the movement reach this milestone. The petition was set up by fan Hassaan Mohammad who, like many of us, was hugely fond of the original game.

“Public demand definitely warrants a sequel and I'm astonished one hasn't been made yet, or alternatively a remastering of the original game,” Hassaan said. “I hope it can be made possible through the means of this petition. If you are nostalgic about this game and would love to see another one made, you know what to do.” Hassaan also added that it would be great to see extra playable characters, a wider range of attacks, and a few extra missions and locations.

Another fan wrote, “Hit & Run is a classic game which holds a lot of memories for a lot of people and a remake or sequel would fly off the shelves,” while someone else commented, “This game is long overdue for a return. Whether it be a remaster, remake or even just a port, this game needs to live on.” Hopefully one day, it will.
