Massive 'Skyrim' Visual Overhaul Drops, Makes It Looks Like A Completely Different Game

Massive 'Skyrim' Visual Overhaul Drops, Makes It Looks Like A Completely Different Game

With over 1300 mods applied, this ultra modded version of 'Skyrim' looks incredible, and you can try it too.

Skyrim, huh? It’s the game that keeps on giving (to Todd Howard’s bank balance, that is), with enough console ports to give DOOM a run for its money.

Of course, a lot of what makes Skyrim so dang replayable is the copious amount of mods available to change up the gameplay experience, and generally make it feel like you aren’t still stuck playing the same game you have been since 2011. Well, this ultra modded, visually overhauled version of the game is absolutely no exception, and it’s just incredible.

With the Christmas season upon us, why not take a virtual holiday to Skyrim itself? We assure you, you won't regret it...

In this video posted by digital artist Digital Dreams, you can see a whopping 1300+ mods at work transforming the game into 8K glory, bringing the graphics to a level above and beyond those from the actual new-gen ports. My poor 2015 laptop genuinely struggles to even load the footage in its highest quality (although maybe that says more about my laptop than the mods themselves).

“50 seconds in and I am floored. NEVER EVER seen that view of Markarth so wonderfully presented. Sweet!!” commented Tyg Rahof. “It's amazing what can be [achieved] with an active community that loves a certain game and is allowed to mod it to their heart's content.” added Morning Star.

Markarth has never looked so good /

If, after seeing 8K Skyrim in all its glory, you want to try it for yourself, you most certainly can. Digital Dreams has compiled a list of all the mods they applied, so if you have a PC powerful enough to run it without something catching fire (I know I don’t), you’ll be able to experience the very same visuals. If you’re not sure, they’ve also handily written up their PC specs in the video description, so use that information however you will.

So, there’s your excuse to replay Skyrim for the umpteenth time while we wait for anything resembling The Elder Scrolls VI to actually exist. Which, to be fair, can only be drawing closer, right? Right. Just don’t hold me to that.
