Last night’s The Games Awards was a flurry of new game announcements and trailers. In fact, there were so many that it almost felt like the actual awards were getting in their way a bit. The trailer that stood out most to me, though? Slitterhead.

Slitterhead looks terrifying, which is no surprise given that it’s being made by former Silent Hill writer and director Keiichiro Toyama. The game is in development at Bokeh Game Studio, the company Toyama started after leaving SCE Japan Studio last year.
Advert
Another founding member of Bokeh is Junya Okura, who worked on the Gravity Rush series with Toyama, adding even more reason to be excited for the brutal, gory-looking Slitterhead. And if that wasn’t enough, the music for the game is coming from Akira Yamaoka, the acclaimed talent behind the scores for the Silent Hill series.
There’s no confirmed release date for Slitterhead yet, although VGC reports that the game is aiming to release in 2023 for multiple platforms. Fingers crossed we get an official release date soon.
