Spider-Man is finally swinging into Marvel’s Avengers later this month. The wall-crawler will be introduced into the divisive superhero action-RPG on November 30 as part of a special “Hero Event”.
You may recall that Spidey was announced as a PlayStation-exclusive playable character more than a year ago. It’s been a long wait, and Marvel’s Avengers clearly hasn’t achieved everything it wanted to in that time, but at least now our favourite webhead has a solid release date.
Take a look at Marvel's Avengers in action below!
“The iconic web slinger Spider-Man will come exclusively to PlayStation players in the November 30 update along with the Spider-Man: With Great Power Hero Event,” a Square Enix blog post confirms.
“You’ll experience Spider-Man’s story through unlockable challenges woven throughout the Avengers Initiative. Here’s a quick taste of his journey in Marvel’s Avengers! Peter Parker uncovers AIM’s new plan to acquire technology that could make their Synthoid army unstoppable and total domination inevitable.
“He must partner with the Avengers to stop this looming threat, and forms a tentative friendship with Ms. Marvel and Black Widow while keeping his identity hidden. As a Hero accustomed to working solo, he struggles with the new dynamics of working with a team. Will he join up full time with the Avengers, or stay independent in his fight against AIM?”
I do wonder if the inclusion of Spider-Man will be enough to convince lapsed PlayStation players to return to the game. I know I’ll definitely be redownloading, but I’m a hopelessly dedicated Spidey fan and would follow him anywhere - even straight into the heart of one of the most disappointing video games of 2020.
