Spider-Man: No Way Home has done the unthinkable. After weeks at the top of the box office, where it's sat like a greedy Tudor king and showered itself in buckets of sweet cash, the latest MCU adventure has out-performed James Cameron's Avatar.
According a report from Deadline, Sony has officially announced No Way Home has taken a whopping $769.988 million at the US box office, which puts it just over Avatar's $760.5 million.
The Spidey sequel has soared to this impressive figure in just nine weeks, which is an astounding achievement compared to Avatar's nine-month run and subsequent 2010 re-release (a cheeky move that earned it an additional $10.7 million). Clearly, the power of three Spider-Men was too much for audiences to ignore, even with the growing concerns of the Omicron variant around that time. Imagine how much Spidey might have earned if there wasn't a pandemic?

While Peter Parker has finally hit the big time in the US box office, Avatar is still number one globally. With an international total of $2.84 billion, No Way Home has some work to do. It's more than $1 billion behind with $1.8 billion.
No Way Home will probably have to settle for third place domestically, however. With $769.988, it's still a long way off catching up with either Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($936.6 million) or Avengers: Endgame ($858.3 million). Still, with great power must also come great responsibility. And fat wads of cash for everyone at Sony and Marvel.
