One of the most anticipated games to never be formally announced has reportedly been cancelled by Electronic Arts and it's the rumoured Star Wars Mandalorian game.
It’s not been a great year for the video game industry in terms of job security. In recent months, we’ve heard of thousands of jobs being lost as a result of cost-cutting tactics by big publishers. Just this week alone, 900 jobs were reportedly lost at PlayStation and just days later, a reported 700 jobs were lost within EA.

As a result of so many jobs being lost and costs cut, some video game projects would inevitably be cancelled too, many of which we probably never knew even existed. In February, rumours were making the rounds that a first-person shooter Star Wars Mandalorian game is in development by Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind Titanfall and the free-to-play battle royale shooter, Apex Legends.

Now, following the recent job losses at EA, as reported by Game Rant, the Star Wars Mandalorian game has reportedly been cancelled before it was ever announced by the publisher. If these reports are true of the Star Wars Mandalorian game being cancelled it would make it the second high-profile project to be cancelled for a yet-to-be-announced game, the other being Titanfall 3. So it seems at least for the immediate future, Respawn Entertainment's focus will continue to be on Apex Legends.
At this time, we should take reports of the Star Wars Mandalorian game being cancelled with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise, especially as it was never officially announced by EA. That being said, I am a firm believer in there being no smoke without fire and just like Titanfall 3, we can only be left wondering what the Star Wars Mandalorian game may have been like.
As for the employees that have recently found themselves out of work, I hope that they all find new employment as soon as possible.
