'Star Wars Villainous' Is A New Game All About The Dark Side

Disney do quite like making those Star Wars products, don't they? The thing is that it doesn't seem to matter how much is out there, we always want so much more.

Three years ago, Disney teamed up with board game manufacturer Ravensburger to develop a new game for its classic properties. Villainous set classic Disney film antagonists Maleficent, Jafar and Ursula against each other to achieve their individual goals. Nice to see all these naughty people's hard work finally paying off.

The company continues to release expansions to the game, digging through its ever deepening box of intellectual properties. Now you can play not only as villains from Disney's core films, but you are welcome to try your hand at other characters - like those rascals from the Marvel movies.

But what Disney franchise has more miscreants than Star Wars? With more films and TV shows centred around the galaxy far, far away than I ever dare to count, the ever-ongoing battle of good versus evil has racked up quite a cast. It's not surprising then the series would get its own Villainous spin off.

The latest expansion is called Star Wars Villainous: Power Of The Dark Side, and includes quests for five different nemeses. Firstly we have General Grievous from Revenge Of The Sith and Clone Wars. Then there's Asajj Ventress, a villain mainly from the video games such as Star Wars Battlefront and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Next is Moff Gideon, the bad boy of TV favourite The Mandalorian. Penultimately, you can play as Kylo Ren from the latest sequel trilogy; and finally, of course, there is Darth Vader, from you know, pretty much all of it.

Hey look, that's the game's box, just up there. Seems suitably baddie-like, doesn't it. Star Wars Villainous won't be out until August 2022, so you'll just have to imagine that you're the embodiment of the Sith until then. Not that there isn't plenty of Star Wars content to tide you over - as well as the new LEGO video game (see the video above), there's also the small matter of the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV show coming to Disney+.
