Stardew Valley creator issues warning as free update launches

Stardew Valley's creator has issued a small warning as update 1.6 finally launches.

The latest Stardew Valley update is finally here and hordes of fans are rushing to see what is new with the 1.6 patch. However, its creator recently made an important announcement to players.

Stardew Valley 1.6 has arrived and alongside a brand new farm type known as “Meadowlands Farm” and the ability to drink mayonnaise, its creator, ConcernedApe has also revealed that the majority of mods players use will be compatible with the new update.

Check out the Stardew Valley trailer below!

This news comes courtesy of a tweet posted by ConcernedApe saying: “PSA for people who use mods: A ton of mods are already updated for 1.6. Also, I've added a public steam branch that will let you stay on version 1.5.6 if you choose. I recommend trying out 1.6 without mods, but it's up to you.”

He also includes a link to SMAPI, a site that allows you to track your mods to see which are or are not compatible with the latest version of the game. However, with hundreds of mods still in working order, it is clear to see that ConcernedApe has kept the Stardew modding community in the front of his mind.

As the first major Stardew Valley update in almost three years, the game's loyal fans are heading back to their farms to see what’s new and they are far from disappointed. With new items, dialogue and areas, patch 1.6 also includes a new late-game area known as Ginger Island as well as a split screen co-op feature. This means that up to four players can use the split screen feature on PC whereas only two can team up on console.

For those who are already hundreds of hours into the game, the latest update also gives you all the excuses to start from fresh so it also caters to brand-new players. It appears that despite a long wait for new content, ConcernedApe definitely knows what his fans want. Including the ability to drink mayonnaise, apparently.
