When I played Moonglow Bay back on release for Xbox, I was smitten right away. It’s a gorgeous experience that mixes calming fishing with relaxed cooking, and it’s all bundled together under bright, eye-cathing visuals.
Now, after many months, Moonglow Bay is finally coming to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch on 11 April. It’s a sedate experience, perfect for those who find themselves always drifting towards cosy simulators. If you’re a fan of Stardew Valley, you’ll quickly find yourself feeling at home as you venture out onto the waves looking for rare fish.

It’s all very similar to many other games of this ilk, but I remember being tickled by the dialogue and some clever visual gags spread through Moonglow Bay. It’s adorable on every level. I’m already a fan of any game that features fishing mini-games despite hating the idea of fishing in real life. Give me a virtual fishing rod and I’ll be out on the water for days on end. I never once got bored of travelling to new biomes in the search for different fish.
The voxel art is constantly lovely and cute, and everything is backed up by a stunning score by Lena Raine who can do no wrong. It has taken a while for developer Bunnyhug and publisher Coatsink to port the game over to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, and hopefully fans of the cosy genre will welcome the game with open arms and fishing nets at the ready.
