Starfield fans start counter-petition against PS5 exclusivity campaign

Starfield fans have started a counter-petition against the PS5-exclusivity campaign.

If you’re on the lookout for some truly baffling news, I have just the thing. In recent weeks, a petition was set up by a group of PlayStation fans who demanded that Bethesda’s upcoming space epic Starfield should be a PlayStation-exclusive. Yes, you heard me right. Not a cross platform release - a PS5 exclusive.

The word delusional springs to mind. Clearly, Bethesda aren’t going to change their minds at this stage in the game. It’s not like they can anyway. Bethesda’s parent company, ZeniMax, is owned by Microsoft. It’s a head-scratcher of a petition but those that set it up truly mean what they say. Nearing 3,500 signatures, the petition reads, “Any and all future Bethesda titles should be only PlayStation exclusives,” adding that “Xbox and its 12 dedicated players do not deserve Starfield.” Sigh.

Take a look at Starfield in action below.

For the most part, the so-called console wars are well and truly over. Why compete in an Xbox vs. PlayStation war when you can love and appreciate both? That’s the kind of growth gamers across the globe have undergone, but not here it seems. In order to counter the Starfield PS5 exclusive petition, a new campaign has been set up on change.org, titled ‘Starfield PS5 exclusive petition is asinine.”

Set up by Michael Goudie, the petition has 150 signatures, compared to a goal of 200. It reads, “This petition is for anyone who believes that the recent petition to make Starfield a PS5 exclusive game is a dumb idea. I noticed that people were signing that petition solely to leave a comment on how against the idea they were, thus unintentionally supporting that petition. This petition provides a forum for those that want to express their views without having to add to the signature numbers of a petition they do not support.”

They continued, “Why would a game made by a Microsoft company want to make a game exclusive to Microsoft's main competitor? That idea is asinine. Now, obviously some PS5 players want to play Starfield. So I also don't agree with Starfield being a Xbox/PC only game. Bethesda/Microsoft can make more money by making the game available on PS5 as well. So let your voice be heard in a way that does not support a cause you don't believe in.” Finally, some reason.
