Starfield, Bethesda’s upcoming sci-fi RPG promises to be one of the biggest hits of 2023 and fans are itching to get their grubby mitts on the game.
So, if you’re one of the millions itching to play Starfield, prepare to be very jealous, because apparently, other than the developers at Bethesda and Xbox head honcho Phil Spencer, it seems that there are some lucky gamers already playing the highly anticipated sci-fi RPG. We’re not jealous, honestly.

As shared in a Reddit post, during a recent episode of Kinda Funny’s Xcast podcast, co-host Parris Lilly claims to know someone that has been playing Starfield. The person that Parris keeps anonymous, said that the mystery gamer is fascinated by how Starfield will be reviewed due to its large size in terms of scope and open world. Obviously, we have to take Parris’ word, but we like to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Kinda Funny elaborated further in the Reddit post, explaining what Parris meant by when the individual he knows is curious how Starfield will be reviewed. “There was a post by someone in games media who said recently that most of the reviews for Starfield are probably going to be “Reviews In Progress” just because of how big this game is shaping up to be,” they explained.
While those details from the Kinda Funny co-host were deliberately vague, the words of Parris Lilly lean into official details revealed by Bethesda that Starfield not only has the largest city that the developer has ever created, but its open world (or galaxy if you will) features over 1000 planets for players to explore.
That being said, it is also claimed that only 10% of those planets will have signs of meaningful life which acquaints around 100 planets. What’s more, with so many planets being apparently vacant of life, fans are speculating that this leaves the window open for huge pieces of post-launch DLC.
Starfield will be released on 6 September 2023 for PC and Xbox Series X|S. That’s unless you’ve pre-ordered the Premium or Constellation Edition, in which case, your release date will be 1 September. Starfield will also launch on Xbox Game Pass.
