Starfield gets massive free update with a ton of quality features

Starfield has just gotten even better courtesy of a free update

After many years of waiting, Starfield was finally released in September of this year offering players an epic intergalactic space adventure that only Bethesda can deliver.

According to Bethesda, Starfield has been 20 years in the making and while it’s perhaps not shined as brightly as the folks at Xbox may have hoped due to 2023 being one of the best years for video game releases in recent memory, the idea of Fallout/The Elder Scrolls in space remains an enticing prospect for fans.

That being said, as with just about any video game release, even the best games need improving post-launch. After all, even after hundreds of hours of in-house testing, unforeseen issues can occur once a game is released into the big wide world. What’s more, there may be some added features that a developer might want to implement as a result of player feedback and Starfield is no exception.

Since its release earlier this year, there has already been a series of free post-launch updates for Starfield, and the sci-fi RPG has just received its latest and brings a ton of quality-of-life improvements and features. Arguably, at least for PC gamers, the biggest feature of the latest update is the arrival of DLSS support.

Just a few short days ago, Bethesda announced that the highly requested feature for Starfield was on the way courtesy of an upcoming update, but now DLSS support is finally here. “This update introduces Nvidia DLSS support for our PC players. Compatible Nvidia graphic cards can now use DLSS Super Resolution, Deep Learning Anti-aliasing (DLAA), Nvidia Reflex Low Latency, and DLSS Frame generation,” detailed the patch notes for the most recent update.

Moreover, the recent update also adds a consume button for gobbling up food. “By popular request, we have added the ability to ingest food and drink items upon finding them in the environment. You can enjoy those Chunks immediately or save them for later. The choice is yours,” said Bethesda.

The update should begin to download the next time you fire up Starfield, that’s unless of course the update has already kicked in while your PC or Xbox has been in sleep mode.

Starfield is out now on PC and Xbox Series X|S. It’s also available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers at no extra cost.
