'Starfield' Will Be A "Dream" For Modders, Promises Bethesda

There sure has been a lot of Starfield news to process recently, huh? Mere days ago, the game felt like a distant dream. We knew it was coming but beyond a vague trailer it was all very hush hush. Hey, look at us now. Who would’ve thought? Not me.

In case you missed it, Starfield dropped a lengthy gameplay reveal and announced that the game will have over 1,000 planets to explore across 100 star systems, which I find hard to comprehend. You’re definitely going to need a fair amount of time to complete this chonky lad, yet I’m sure some players will still be itching for more. Well, Bethesda has got you covered. Continuing in the Bethesda tradition, Starfield is set to be a “dream” for modders.

Take a look at Starfield’s brand new gameplay reveal below.

In a discussion with IGN, Starfield director Todd Howard touched on the game’s modding capabilities. He explained, “We've learned that people do play our games for a really, really long time. People are still playing Skyrim. Certainly we're going to be doing extra content for this game, and we love our modding community. We actually think this game for our modding community is going to be a dream because there's so much they can do. We think that's a great thing.”

This is obviously quite vague but hey, it’s a promising start for modders. We’d presume that Starfield’s creation kit would work similarly to those we’ve seen across the Fallout and The Elder Scrolls franchises.

As Howard points out, modding is a huge part of Bethesda’s games. Even after 11 years, Skyrim fans are still creating new mods to bring a fresh lease of life to the game. In the past few weeks alone modders have made a super-realistic Cicero and have managed to turn the game into Red Dead Redemption 2, somehow. With 1,000 planets to explore, I fully expect modders will still be beavering away in Starfield in a century. Seriously.
